Program Operations Manager
MARKETING DIRECTOR
Lea is a people-centric person with a mission driven mindset whose passion is in community building, and of course the operations that go into it. She spent the majority of her career working in the camp world at Campowerment, a sleep away camp-inspired women's retreat experience. After Campowerment, she lived out her dream of working for her childhood summer camp, KenMont and KenWood, as the Assistant Director. Lea has a knack for logistics and spreadsheets and loves to hone in on the details that make an experience come to life: it's the little things that matter. Outside of work, Lea lives on Long Island with her husband, daughter, and their adopted dog, Chubbie. Lea loves everything camp and being outside in nature - it's literally so grounding!
Rachel is a creative and strategic marketing leader and content producer. Her 18 year professional background includes directing award-winning campaigns in the entertainment industry for Nickelodeon and Paramount+, and prior nonprofit work overseeing education programs at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. She has an MA in Media, Culture, and Communication from the University of London, and a lifelong drive to spark more compassion and joy in the world. Rachel got her camp start at Surprise Lake in Cold Spring, NY. When she’s not passionately brainstorming new ways to engage audiences and tell stories, Rachel is geeking out about animals, TV, museums, theater, and food. She is a proud NYC native who lives in LA (for the sunshine) with her senior cat and way too many tchotchkes.

Program & innovation consultant
Shawn Shafner is an artist, educator and activist based out of Washington, DC. Founder of The People's Own Organic Power Project, he has spent 15 years creating award-winning theater, film, podcasts, a book, and countless educational events to catalyze conversation about sustainable sanitation from the floor of the United Nations to the mountains of Rwanda. When his head isn’t in the toilet, Shawn can be found teaching meditation and mindful creativity, leading movement classes, singing, and developing arts-integrated curriculum for learners of all ages. Since receiving a Spielberg Fellowship from the Foundation for Jewish Camping in 2005, Shawn has created dozens (hundreds?) of original programs integrating ritual, theater, art, education, and community of all ages with Storahtelling - Lab/Shul and at more JCCs, religious schools, and summer camps than you can shake a lulav at. He has been working with Trybal since 2020, and recently graduated with an MFA in Social Practice from the Corcoran School of the Arts at GWU.
